Houses in
the time of Jesus were often built around a small courtyard area with rooms
along the side. Animals might be kept in the courtyard or in one of the side
rooms and that may have been where Joseph and Mary had to stay. But it is
believed that the stable they stayed in was actually a small cave. In Bethlehem
at that time caves were often used to keep animals. |
